There are five tests (500 pts), a homework grade (100 pts) and a final exam (200 pts); that makes it 800 pts totals.  If you need to have A in Dr. Kimball's class, ...

... you have to work hard to do well on all of his tests by studying all your in-class notes, homework problems, and suggested problems.  If you procrastinate and mess up on any of his tests, your grade will decrease by one letter grade. Do not be fool in thinking your homework grade will help your overall grade, [(your points,>800)/800]. 


Dr. Kimball is very nice about responding to students' doubts.  He is a very good, caring teacher. However, if you do not stop Dr. Kimball to let him know what you do not understand, ...

Dr. Kimball will move on (and forgets about you) and will not give you all the tools that you need to solve the math problems.  Again, you must speak up on what you do not understand, including about the homework problems.  Else, Dr. Kimball will move on and you will stay lost. 

Your homework grade (which includes your quiz grades, hand-in homework and WileyPlus) will hurt your grade, if you did bad on it.  Else, if you scored 100 out of 100 on your homework grade, something like [(your score)/(something like 287 as possible)], your homework grade can only help/increase your grade by two percents, [(your points,>800)/800].

Also, Dr. Kimball tends to procrastinate.  You must say something or email a notification to him to remind him.  Else, Dr. Kimball will procrastinate and forget (not get it done).  For instance, we should have emailed Dr. Kimball early enough (as soon as we realize Dr. Kimball is late than usual about posting WileyPlus homework, for the last test) to remind him to post WileyPlus.  Since we did not email Dr. Kimball, he did not finish posting WileyPlus homework for the last test study materials.  He said he just really forgot about posting WileyPlus for the last test.

However, Dr. Kimball did a good job on grading anything.  Therefore, do not bother Dr. Kimball about returning the graded materials; Dr. Kimball always knows when to give back the graded materials.  Therefore, all students must give Dr. Kimball freedom about the timing on grading materials.

For the final, know how to integrate 5^x as below.

= ∫ [e ^ ln(3^ x)] dx because e ^ ln(3^x)=3^x, properties of logarithmic functions;
= ∫ [e ^ (xln3)] dx because ln(3^x)=xln3, properties of logarithmic functions
= [e ^ (xln3)] / ln3 + C (because let u=xln3 and du=ln3dx => [1/(ln3)]du=dx
then ∫ [e ^ (xln3)] dx=∫[e ^ (u)]*([1/(ln3)] du)=1/(ln3)∫[e ^ (u)]du)
= (3 ^ x) / ln3 + C because e ^ (xln3)=e ^ln(3^x)=3^x, properties of logarithmic functions

Further, notice 3^x=e^[ln(3^x)]=e^[xln3] and (3^x)'=d[3^x]/dx.
d[3^x]/dx=d[e ^ (xln3)]/dx=[3^x]ln3 because let u=xln3 and u'= ln3;
d[3^x]/dx=d[e ^ (xln3)]/dx=[e ^u]u'=[3^x]ln3.
