 The Montgomery, AL school system is one of the least desireable in the country, but deludes itself into thinking that it is better. In predomniantly black schools, students are miseducated, denied grades they've worked for , and condescended to by White teachers who oftentimes don't understand them, and who, in history classes, teach from a Eurocentric perspective, teaching students nothing about predominantly black nations unless it is negative.To be a black female who lives on one of the nearby military bases in that community is to go through hell on earth. The mostly inner-city student will hate you because you don't live in their neighborhood,boys may harass you to the point where you pratically have to theraten a lawsuit against the school to get that to stop, and however much you may try to contribute, you may be subjected to acts of petty theft(especially of your military ID), con games, and physical mistreatment that can gravely disrupt your learning process.Consider that girls are often fronting for the guys in such situations.Military kids are oblidged to be law abiding, and especially now that many have parents away at war, do not need this torment, as they are under enough stress. Congressman Bobby Bright  has been asked if he could get Federal money to build a school on base for the first time sinc ethe sixties, but, presumably, there's always a question of whether or not there would be enough student to sustain it. I would advise any military family with students of Jr. High and High School age to be homeschooled rather than go to the most disreputable school in town, as I have been told private schools offbase aren't much better.
