Either today or tomorrow I'm going to be called up to HR to discuss an issue that HR was supposed to have solved one and a half years ago.
Apparently my choices of solution are: to remain at the same locked-in pay or take a slight pay increase, with the not-really-discussed cavaet that my employer can take away about $10k from my pay during the next round of negotiations. The reasons why they're doing it are complicated but the reasons they're actually telling us have been bald-faced lies to date.
And my wonderous union? Well they haven't even told us a thing about this process but rumour has it they support management's proposal. My union representative will not be present at this upcoming meeting. That doesn't really bother me though, as my union rep told me to my face that she thought I was overpaid. Rest assured that the union won't be fighting too hard for that $10k next round. I Wish I could revoke my union dues.
I hate the corruption, I'm disappointed in this whole process and I'm tired of having to be polite and respectful to people that make careers out of lying and manipulation.
I'm not going to be in a good mood going into this meeting. I hope I still have a job when I leave it.
