RE: Is It Over Yet?
Posted on March 11, 2010 at 08:16 AM (UTC) ( almost 2 years ago )wrote the following:
I have also grown up in a Christian home, with beliefs that are similar to yours.
I also have gone through hardships that seem unbearable, and you wake up wondering when it will be done. When you can go "home" or when you will be through this awful, gut-wrenching period in your life. You pray it's just a period and that this isn't what your life has become.
I don't want to give you the typical Christian answers. I don't want to tell you to stay in your word, or pray for strength, or just "hang in there," because that just frustrates me. Because I look at that person and ask myself, "What do THEY know about MY suffering?"
But I want to tell you that sometimes this life SUCKS. What we experiences makes no sense sometimes.
But I want to tell you tears are ok. Crying is necessary.
I want to tell you that it is okay to wrestle with God.
I want to tell you to be honest with your husband, because too many women take being submissive too far, and end up in bitter marriages. God gave you YOUR brain for a reason, and to not share that with your husband is a waste. If you're not satisfied with your ministry, speak up to your husband.
Check out this song. It comforts me. Hold me Now by Jennifer Knapp.
Here is the passage that lets me know I'm not alone. Psalm 6.
I'll end with this last thing. By my mirror, I have a picture from a Sunday School lesson I taught to my class years ago. I kept it because I think that lesson was more God's lesson for me, than what He needed the kids to learn. It says, "Lord help me to trust you with my whole heart, especially when I do not understand what is happening."
You'll be in my prayers.
